Feel Safer Now?

Theago Olson, a seventeen year old high school senior from Detroit, has successfully built and then create nuclear fusion. While I certainly am not being critical of this young genius, but to build a nuclear reactor in his parent's basement is, well, very scarey to me.

He was able to do this from parts obtained off of e-bay and elsewhere. To top it off, he only hopes of qualifying to be in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in New Mexico in May. Only hopes - what would be a cinch?

Very interesting and congratulations to this young man. Hopefully those with less stellar goals will not be as successful.

The United States has a giant reserve

This could be the best news you will read about in twenty years. Israel is set to produce synthetic oil from low quality shale at $17 a barrel. We, in the United States, have a HUGE deposit of oil shale and at seventeen dollars a barrel, compared to sixty dollars a barrel, our energy costs will be nearly a fourth of what we are paying now! In five short years, we could wean ourselves of the oil cartel :~). Goodbye Chevaz and the Middle East, welcome home all American forces.
